  1. Playing under excellent field conditions, Real Old Men knocked out St. Paul’s yesterday in the first match to signal the start of the National Masters Football Tournament. Wayne James scored a double after squandering many chances as St. Paul’s Goalkeeper Thomas Billy Alexis had to pull out some important saves to end the game 2-0, a more respectable scoreline. Real Old Men now advances to... the Semi Final Stage of the competition when they will meet the winner of the match between Crown City Veterans and Just Brands Big Parish. In the other match played yesterday, star-studded Happy Hill Old Boys mauled Christian Strikers 9-0 to advance to the Semi Final of the Masters Cup. Anthony Nixon Modeste scored the first hattrick of the Tournament on his new signing with Happy Hill Old Boys. Other new signings were Nigel Bishop who played with the defending champions Real Old Men last season. Bishop scored twice and looked quite happy among the others stars. Playing for the first time also was Randy Boca former QPR player who also netted a goal in the second half. The other goals came from former national players Patrick Modeste, Finbar Williams and Ricky ‘Curry’ Charles. The Masters Cup continues today at the Roy St. John Playing Field, Tanteen. Veterans will host Grand Mal Generals from 4:15 p.m. The National Masters Football is sponsored by Nixon’s Electrical and Just Brands and is organized by Just Sports. League matches will start the following weekend.
